Biological control of insect pests infesting on jute is area of research. In the present area of research, biocontrol agents like nucleopoly hedrosis virus (NPV) of pests like hairy caterpillar (Spilosoma obliqua), jute semilooper (Anomis sabulifera) and tobacco caterpillar (Spodoptera litura) have been identified and efficacy was evaluated. Natural enemies i.e dipteran parasitoids of hairy caterpillar i.e Blepherella lateralis and semilooper, Sysiropa formosa were identified. Entomopathogenic fungi, Beauveria bassiana was identified and isolated from larvae of hairy caterpillar. Apart from above insect pheromone components of jute semilooper, Anomis sabulifera, was identified which suits as semiochemical for jute semilooper management.
